August 9th, 2016 Regular MUG Meeting
August 9th 2016 - MUG Meeting
We meet at 6:30pm on the second Tuesday of each month at the Farmington Community Library.
Topics Include:
Clustering: from basics to behemoths
They say two heads are better than one. No where is this more true than for complex computing problems. Clustering allows you to add more computer "heads" to a problem and solve problems more quickly than a single computer can handle. Our August presentation will cover some of the basics on what clustering is,;from a basic two server cluster up to a large scale multi-tier system (using the same basic principles). We'll cover how to handle things like load balancing, redundancy for network, server, database, and even network storage. Questions are encouraged during the presentation and we hope to start a dynamic dialog that will engage and excite the audience.
Chad Columbus is an IT and business consultant with 20 years of experience. He has worked with systems as small as 1 virtual server and stacks as large as 100 servers serving 1,000,000,000 HTTP requests per day on average. Currently he is focused on custom application development and system administration for his own company which provides phone service, text messaging, and a digital to print picture service.
Plus we'll have our regular features: Jobs Looking for People, People Looking for Jobs, and much more! We'll also be meeting for dinner at Red Lobster in Novi after the meeting.
