- ZFS Today talk and Secret talk by Michael W Lucas
April 10th 2018 - MUG Meeting
We meet at 6:30pm on the second Tuesday of each month at the Farmington Community Library.
Topics Include:
Today's ZFS
OpenZFS is one of today's best filesystems. You can't just install ZFS and run with it, though; using ZFS requires thinking differently about your data. Michael Lucas will take us through the essentials and core concepts of ZFS and discuss the filesystem's newest features. Learn when to deploy ZFS, when not to, and how to design future-proof storage. You won't want to miss this!
Secret Talk
The MUG board also approved a second talk from Michael Lucas without knowing the topic. The talk is related to #mwlSecretBook. Yes, Michael Lucas is writing a whole book as an April Fool's gag. Except it's not a gag, it's completely serious. Find out id the MUG board was foolish to let Michael have full control over the second-half of our meeting!
Michael W Lucas is the author of over thirty books and has been using Unix since the late 1980s. His most recent titles include "SSH Mastery, 2nd ed," "FreeBSD Mastery: ZFS," and the novel "git commit murder." He might physically assault someone during his talk, but only
if you ask nicely. Learn more about Michael W Lucas at https://www.mwl.io.
Plus we'll have our regular features: Jobs Looking for People, People Looking for Jobs, and much more! We'll also be meeting for dinner at the Buddy's Pizza in Novi (44225 W 12 Mile Road, Novi, MI 48377) after the meeting.
