November 12th 2019 – MUG Meeting

Regular MUG Meeting

We meet at 6:30pm on the second Tuesday of each month at the Farmington Community Library.

Topics Include:

Blender with Python

Blender is a free and open-source 3D computer graphics software toolset used for creating animated films, visual effects, art, 3D printed models, motion graphics, interactive 3D applications, and computer games. Blender's features include 3D modeling, UV unwrapping, texturing, raster graphics editing, rigging and skinning, fluid and smoke simulation, particle simulation, soft body simulation, sculpting, animating, match moving, rendering, motion graphics, video editing, and compositing. Blender is supported by the Blender Foundation, a nonprofit organization responsible for the development of Blender. The foundation also produces free animated short films as a way to test and prove the capabilities and workflows of Blender.

Blender has a python API, everything you can do in the interface has a Python equivalent, and the interface is also extendable with Python. The number of different possible goals, workflows, and add-ons available in blender can make it hard to wrap your head around It all. We will go over the big picture ideas, dive into some of the basics, and learn about where to go from there.

Justin Triplett is a MUG Board member, senior software engineer, and consultant. He also currently helps coordinate Beaglebone, Python, and Circuit Python public user groups at i3Detroit.

Plus we'll have our regular features: Jobs Looking for People, People Looking for Jobs, and much more! We'll also be meeting for dinner at the Buddy's Pizza in Novi (44225 W 12 Mile Road, Novi, MI 48377) after the meeting.
