December 8th 2020 - MUG Meeting
We meet at 6:30pm on the second Tuesday of each month. Come participate at https://jitsi.decafbad.net/mugmeeting2020.
.NET and Linux
.NET is an open-source programming language runtime from Microsoft. Though
historically Windows-centric, recent versions of .NET are first-class
citizens on Linux. This allows us to migrate expensive, older Windows
infrastructure to more efficient Linux infrastructure.
In this presentation, we'll learn the upsides and downsides of .NET, how to
write applications for Linux, and how to convert production Windows servers
to Linux to save both costs and sanity.
Will Fuqua was a MUG member from 2009 to 2014 before moving abroad. He'll
take advantage of the current online format of MUG meetings to rejoin us
for this presentation! Will has been building applications in various
technologies and platforms for 15 years, and recently converted 60
production Windows servers running .NET to Linux.
We'll also have a giveaway for a free eBook from No Starch Press (up to $50). Must be present to win.
Plus we'll have our regular features: Jobs Looking for People, People Looking for Jobs, and much more!
