Maintaining privacy is an important, but not always easy task. As we store more information digitally, the need to protect it increases. Fortunately, Linux has the capability to encrypt the data before it's written to disk. Whether you are writing to a USB memory stick or a large database on a storage area network, encryption can be set up to keep your data safe. This presentation will focus on configuring encrypted volumes but that relies on using LVM (Logical Volume Management), so we'll be showing some of that too. We'll cover some of the basic concepts and then jump in and perform an installation of Linux, showing how to partition the disk, create the volumes and then set up the encryption layer.
