Kubuntu Project In case you hadn't heard, there's more to the world of Ubuntu, than Ubuntu. A whole series of Ubuntubased distros are out there. Last month we talked about Medibuntu last month. Richard can share some insights on the kubutu project. Everything Else As usual we'll discuss any current happenings in the Linux community, have our book giveaway, and plan on some dinner after the meeting where you can hammer our speakers with the hard hitting questions they deserve. About the Speaker Rich Johnson is a longterm member and contributor to the Ubuntu and Kubuntu project from Chicago, Illinois. In 1994, while serving in the U.S. Navy, he purchased a computer at the base PX. Upon starting it up later that day, Rich noticed the immediate issues with the modem as well as the sound card. The next day at work, he searched the Internet on "How to fix Microsoft Windows." One of the first results was the Slackware Linux distribution, at which time he downloaded to numerous floppy disks to install later at home. Now Rich hacks on Kubuntu, Edubuntu, Ubuntu, and Debian GNU/Linux operating systems, as well as the awardwinning K Desktop Environment (KDE). He enjoys spending a vast majority of his free time hacking on, and spreading, freedom. If you have topics for future meetings you would like us to cover please email the board, thanks.
