Search Engine Technology

Everybody uses a search engine. In fact, what would life be like if we didn't have them.

This month, we'll have a discussion about Search Engines.

Heading up the discussion, we'll have Wolf (nee Scott Collins, Former Mozilla engineer). Wolf will show us a bit of behind the scenes information about how search engines perform their magic.

  • Google, Yahoo, Ask, Bing, wolfram-alphra, NorthernLight
  • Searches, how to specify your search so the search engines will return better results
  • Bring your search challenges and tips
  • How does the Google search engine find your results

Command of the month: wget

This month's Unix Command Line session is by Brad McMahon

Everything Else
As usual we'll discuss any current happenings in the Linux community, have our book giveaway, and plan on some dinner after the meeting where you can hammer our speakers with the hard hitting questions they deserve.

If you have topics for future meetings you would like us to cover please email the board, thanks.
