October 12th 2021 – MUG Meeting

Regular MUG Meeting

Topics Include:

Catch up with macOS, iOS, and more.

The recent descendants of the original Macintosh computers, have been surrounded and invaded by a wide variety of new computing platforms. All of these devices run custom tailored implementations of operating system technologies that have contributed significantly to their widespread adoption in both highly specialized and massively common use cases. Through this family of platforms Apple has (ostensibly) provided increased utility and convenience while pushing the expectations of consumer privacy and security forward significantly. Apple Inc. is an American multinational company that is continuing a long campaign of profit and growth powered by these platforms,
strict policies, and strategic marketing which have impacts felt around the world and in our homes.

Let's take a look at some of the recent changes you might have missed as well as new changes coming down the pipeline. We'll also briefly discuss the wider competitive market for these platforms and services available today as well as consider the possibilities for computing tomorrow.

Justin Triplett is a MUG Board member, senior software engineer, and consultant. He also currently helps coordinate the Eastern Michigan Python User Group (https://empug.org/), and the Circuit Python public user group at i3Detroit.

Plus we'll have our regular features: Jobs Looking for People, People Looking for Jobs, and much more!
