December 12th 2017 - MUG Meeting
We meet at 6:30pm on the second Tuesday of each month at the Farmington Community Library.
Topics Include:
The Domain Name System: Registration to Publication
The hierarchical Domain Name System (DNS) is based on simple query and response principles. While not elusive, DNS has grown to a critical service that embraces its own intricacies. Mitchell will take a step-by-step practical approach to authoritative zone hosting. The talk will begin with registering a domain name and conclude with hosting the zone on two BIND 9 instances. Each step of the way, we'll explore the hierarchy and architecture of the DNS.
Mitchell Kuch is technologist with a background in software development, network operations, library services, digital video, and television. A business major at heart, Mitchell works to integrate process and continuous improvement into operational technology stacks. Mitchell is currently working at Merit Network, Inc. (https://www.merit.edu) supporting high-performance network, security, and community services to the network, research, educational communities and beyond.
Plus we'll have our regular features: Jobs Looking for People, People Looking for Jobs, and much more! We'll also be meeting for dinner at Buddy's Pizza in Novi after the meeting.
And as a special bonus we will have a giveaway from No Starch Press. Must be present to win. Our thanks to No Starch Press for their support of the Michigan!/usr/group.
