Detroit Autonomous Vehicle Group
Detroit Autonomous Vehicle Group (DAVG) is a group of technology enthusiasts and professionals
who share a common vision for innovation and passion for improving the world through technology.
DAVG started as an extension of the Udacity Self Driving Car Nano Degree program, but is open to
everyone who has even the slightest interest. All you need is some interest in technology, innovation,
meeting new interesting people, autonomous vehicles, and artificial intelligence, just to name a few.
These are the anchor themes of DAVG. During the talk we will trace the history of innovation, use of
open platforms (as much as possible) in order to build a self-driving RC cars and robots, algorithms,
controllers, and everything under the sun which contributes to this effort that you would like to
discuss.
DAVG meets every other Saturday (meetup page) at i3Detroit in Ferndale, and
every Saturday in Ann Arbor at Washtenaw Community College (Ann Arbor chapter meetup page) to work on self-driving RC cars.
Alex Polonsky is a bilingual engineer with a passion for mobility and technological innovation. Born in
Russia and raised in San Francisco, CA, in 2011 Alex decided to pursue his dream of making a
difference through transportation and moved to Detroit. Since moving he’s able to combine his
passion for automobiles and technology through AV’s.
While living in Silicon Valley, he spent time working at NASA Ames space center where he helped
design next generation waste recycling systems for the space program. Currently, he is employed as
an electronics engineer with the Brose Group in Auburn Hills, MI.
In February of 2017 Alex founded the Detroit Autonomous Vehicle Group (DAVG) where automotive
enthusiasts and professionals work on automation systems. The group currently has over 400
members in the Detroit chapter and over 350 members in the Ann Arbor chapter. They meet bi-
weekly at i3Detroit in Ferndale, and weekly in Ann Arbor at Washtenaw Community College (Ann
Arbor Autonomous Vehicle Group) where everyone is encouraged and welcome to join/participate.
Alex will talk all about AV’s, history of SV, Detroit, innovation in general and share insights on the
group’s work and goals for the immediate future.
Plus we'll have our regular features: Jobs Looking for People, People Looking for Jobs, and much more! We'll also be meeting for dinner at the Buddy's Pizza in Novi (44225 W 12 Mile Road, Novi, MI 48377) after the meeting.
